MyJax Community Connect Dashboard Launch

Community Solutions Acquires Third Property In Jacksonville Dedicated To Solving Veteran Homelessness, Preserving Existing Affordable Housing

The acquisition is part of a broader initiative to leverage a new social impact financing model to introduce additional real estate assets within certain communities participating in Community Solutions’ Built for Zero initiative.

City to Offer Free FLU Vaccinations at Select COVID-19 Testing Sites

Beginning Monday, November 16th, the City of Jacksonville and Logistics Health Inc. will provide free flu vaccinations to residents of Duval County and all City employees. The flu shots will be administered Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Lane Wiley Senior Center, 6710 Wiley Road – 32210, and Mandarin Senior Center, 3848 Hartley Road – 32257.

The Community Foundation Launches the Respond/Adapt/Recover Fund

The Community Foundation for Northeast Florida is offering grants to nonprofit organizations in Northeast Florida experiencing economic hardships related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Foundation’s Respond/Adapt/Recover Fund will assist eligible nonprofit organizations with reimbursement for re-opening costs and/or expenses associated with safely maintaining operations during the pandemic according to health guidelines. Applications are due on November 2, 2020.

2020 Neighborhood Awards Program Application - Due March 6, 2020

The City of Jacksonville's Neighborhoods Department is now accepting applications for the 2020 Neighborhood Awards Competition. The theme of this year's award is "Make it a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood." The program is designed to recognize the efforts of organized and registered neighborhood groups in the City of Jacksonville that have excelled in areas of clean-ups and other projects and activities that benefit the community or physically improve Jacksonville's neighborhoods. In addition, the first Regulatory Officer of the Year Award will be given to an individual that has exceeded customer expectations to serve the community in an official or volunteer capacity. All nominations must be received or postmarked by March 6, 2020. 

Cultural Council launching pilot program grant for Duval County arts/cultural organizations

The Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville is launching a new initiative under the Cultural Service Grant Program (CSGP).  Applications are now being sought from eligible Duval County arts and cultural organizations for arts and cultural programs/projects.  Preference will be given to those that provide outreach to underserved communities and/or utilize Duval County artists and cultural providers.  (Underserved communities refer to residents who lack access to arts and culture due to geography, economic condition, ethnic background, or disability.) The deadline to submit program grant applications is Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020.  Applications must be submitted online.  To access the grant application, visit the Cultural Council’s website (click here)

Lynda.com Now Available for Jacksonville Public Library Card Holders

Jacksonville Public Library has added Lynda.com (jaxpubliclibrary.org/lynda) to its digital services, giving cardholders access to more than 14,000 online courses taught by real-world professionals. Lynda.com is free for valid library card holders, and gives patrons unlimited access to learning everything from software development to design on any schedule from a computer or mobile device. To sign up for a library card, visit any Jacksonville Public Library location.

Partnership to Advance Youth Apprenticeship

Expanding youth apprenticeship is a strategy for building a more inclusive economy by connecting the learning needs of students with the talent needs of industry. Leaders from industry, education, and government in cities, states, and regions across the country are well-positioned to build public-private partnerships to scale youth apprenticeship opportunities across industry sectors, including advanced manufacturing, finance and professional services, healthcare, information technology, and more.

To support these efforts of leaders in cities, states, and regions across the country, the Partnership to Advance Youth Apprenticeship (PAYA) is accepting applicants for the PAYA Grant Initiative.   Deadline to apply is March 8, 2019 11:59 p.m.
